Phoenix Crow

Phoenix Crow
Home Planet: Alpha Gamma Per Minoris IV a
(x: -94904928, y: -42827620)

While developing a farm on the arid moon Alpha Gamma Per Minoris IV a, I discovered two things. First, I make for a poor farmer. Second, these creatures are quite obnoxious.

Although no larger than the crows which once called Earth home (incidentally, there was another bird I found on this planet which looked almost exactly like a crow) these birds are as ferocious as a bird of prey, and as deadly as a dragon. They made sweeping passes over my farmland, attempting to burn me alive with their fiery breath.

When I fought back I discovered a second ability - while they use the fire breath against most prey, when threatened they can concentrate their flames into bolts of dark plasma which are more accurate, have a longer range, and are quite explosive.

In the name of science I resisted the urge to exterminate these malicious creatures and instead observed them from a safe location. Like the crows I named them after they are carnivores, but unlike crows they prefer their meat cooked, and are more than happy to kill prey themselves rather than wait for it to die on its own.

The other animals of this planet are mostly birds and reptiles resembling monitor lizards, the largest of which can grow to over a meter in height at the shoulder. These animals will attack all of them with impunity. Even the avians have trouble with them, as I have witnessed those zealots shooting down any of these phoenix crows which get too close to their tower.

Worth noting, I briefly considered combining "phoenix" and "crow" together, but the name "phrow" seemed oddly racist.

Bulballo and Bulbarex

Bulballo
Home Planet: Alpha Pi And 932 II
(x: -81750898, y: 20253571)

Native to the desert planet Alpha Pi And 932 II, these creatures are gentle herbivores, grazing along the edges of the oases that dot the desert landscape. Like the camels of the now destroyed planet Earth, they store water and fat so that they can survive through the dry season when sustenance is scarce, in this case storing it in the garlic-shaped bulbs that grow from their backs.

The large horns are used both for defense and as a method for gathering food. When vegetation on the ground is scarce, the creatures will charge and ram the tall, palm-like trees of their planet to knock them over, gaining themselves access to the tasty foliage and nuts that grow at their tops.

Bulbarex
Home Planet: Same

The male of the species, the Bulbarex at first appears very different from its female counterpart, but is actually similar in many ways. Although the neck and tail are elongated, the skeletons are still for the most part structurally identical. The head is somewhat smaller and the horns have disappeared, having been replaced by an armor-like shell that protects the cranium from damage as the creature charges, but despite this the head and skull are also structurally similar to the female.

The most noteworthy difference is that, unlike the Bulballo, this creature is in no way a passive being. Tasked with protecting the herd, the Bulbarex targets and attacks any potential threat on sight, using its small but keen eyes to spot them from afar. Also unlike the Bulballo, the Bulbarex is a carnivore, as can be determined by the sharp teeth it bares when it charges its victims.

Worth noting, like the Bulballo the Bulbarex stores excess nutrition in the bulb on its back, meaning it only needs to feed once every week or so to survive. This, along with its powerful herd instinct, prevents it from turning on the females for food.
